Asian MMA The Weekends Events – Deep Cage Impact
Published on April 3, 2012 by The Editor in Deep
So We Have Four Big Asian Pacific Based MMA Events This Week
We have already covered the one that I feel sure will gather the most press and attention. India’s Super Fight League which you can read HERE
But Japan has three exciting events this weekend. So lets starts with Deep shall we:
Deep Cage Impact 2012 - Differ Ariake, Tokyo, Japan
A 14 card event with the Main bout pitting: Takafumi Otsuka (12-10-1) against Tatsumitsu Wada (7-6-1)
But before we talk about that lets start at the bottom and work our way up.
Bout 1:
Horoki Sato (5-6-2) who at 32 has been on a very poor recent run, his last win was back in mid 2009 and since then it’s been a pretty miserable run of results five losses and one draw. The good news if there is any is that his last three loses have all been via decision. This would seem to suggest that he is hard to stop but maybe also that he does not have what it takes to finish a fight.
Teruhiko Kubo is (10-10-1) he may have a very spotty looking record but his recent bouts would seem to signal a real improvement in his fortunes with six wins and just one loss. He is a submission specialist and I think he will prove too good for Sato.
Bout 2:
Hiroyuki Kobayashi (3-4-1) It’s not a great record but his last two fights both went the distance, losing one to a decision and drawing the other, before that he had two wins.
Toshinori Tsunemura (3-1-2) unbeaten in four with two wins and two draws I think this fight is a tough one to call but i think Tsunemura may win it by submission.
Bout 3:
Luiz Andrade I (13-13-3) is on a three fight losing streak and has lost to a TKO, A submission and a decision, so one thing is for sure he can be beaten in many different ways! Likewise he can also win in many ways.
Hideto Kondo (7-4-4) while he is coming off of a loss in his last fight before that he was seven unbeaten and I think he will get back on the winning page with this fight.
Bout 4:
Yasutaka Ishigami (3-2-1) a Shooto veteran, this will be his first fight under the Deep banner. He is coming off of a 43 second loss when he got knocked out during a slam, which is a rare occurrence and probably should not be taken too seriously.
Hideki Kiyota (3-1-0) a dangerous up and coming fighter capable of submissions and also if need be battling his way through to the distance. – I think he can win this fight, but it’s going to be a tough one.
Bout 5:
Yataka Hayashi (no record)
Isamu Nagase (4-3-2) Nagase is a durable fighter who most often goes the distance, he will prove a big test for Hayashi.
Bout 6:
Isao Terada (8-13-4-1) on a four fight losing streak it looks like he has been brought in to provide just enough of a test for
Masahito Hisataka (4-0-0) to have to step up and prove his himself worthy of a 4-0 record. He may be four wins in, but three of them were by decision and two of those were split decisions. So this fight is not done and dusted yet. It just depends if Terada has the heart to try to rebuild his career or is it over?
Bout 7:
Yasuhiro Kawasaki (7-2-1) and this is where this event really takes off Kawasaki lost his last fight but before that tearing up a storm with five straight wins.
Juri Ohara (7-4-1) offers a real test, this guy has real knockout power. This fight can go either way it’s going to be a real hard-fought victory which ever way it goes.
Bout 8:
Yutaka Ueda (6-2-1) this young (25) fighter was rockin’ a perfect 6-0 record right up until his last three bouts which have somewhat sullied his reputation, I am sure he will be determined to get his record back on track but first he has to get past
Yoichi Fukumoto (10-7-0) a Shooto veteran who won on his Debut at Deep last time out and is going to be no easy victory. This looks to have a lot of interesting ingredients, can the veteran stop the younger man getting his career back on track and push his on very firmly forward or will Ueda get firmly back into the victory lane?
Bout 9:
Hidehiko Hasegawa (19-15-6)
Toshihiro Shimizu (4-1-0) This is a real battle of the veteran (Hasegawa) against the young gun (Shimizu). If he loses Hasegawa really will have nowhere to go, he may become nothing more than a gate-keeper, while a win for Shimizu will be a really great statement of intent.
Bout 10:
Yuta Watanabe (13-5-4)
Yuko Okano (3-2-0) although these two are close in age, in professional experience it’s all about Watanabe and I don’t see him giving up that advantage to Okano.
Bout 11:
Tomohiko Hori (11-11-6) with just one win in his last eight fights you have to wonder what Hori has done to deserve a fight on the main card
Seeji Akoa (15-5-1) Should walk away with a fairly easy victory here.
Bout 12:
Horomitsu Kanehara (19-24-4)
Yusuke Sakashita (8-2-0) again this should be a fairly easy victory for Sakashita.
Bout 13:
Daiki Hata (12-9-4)
Tomoni Iwama (9-5-1) Iwama went through a five fight losing streak but has recently come back with a draw and two wins. It could be a bit of a battle this one, Hata lost four in a row before hitting back with a lone win.
Bout 14:
Takafumi Ostuka (12-10-1) that a main event fighter could have just two wins in his last eight fights would seem to show that Deep desperately need some new blood.
Tatsumitsu Wada (7-6-1) might be that, his first five fights were all losses but since then he has really got things rolling and at present enters this fight on a straight four win streak.
And that’s it from Deep – I really feel that Deep needs a through clean out and to bring in a number of fresh new faces. Too many of the people on this card just would not get a fight on any other organisations cards. The records of some of the main event fighters are simply horrible.
We will look at ZST Swat!46 tomorrow
