So What Did We Learn ?

I'm not going to run through the results you can find them all over the net or if you had any sense you would have watched it live.

I'm just here to tell you, for a first show it must have been a massive success.

A full stadium, top quality TV production, Bas Rutten on the mic and top quality match making to embarrass many other so called MMA organisations.

All of this added up to one of the most impressive debuts in MMA.

They don't allow elbows in WSoF and I for one am pleased with that, just like the soccer kick I don't see where it belongs in competitive martial arts, it's damage for damage sake and takes little skill or training to inflict major damage to a downed opponent.

We learnt a few things tonight:

Steve Carl is headed for bigger things. Marlon Moraes will have made a lot of people sit up and take notice after defeating Miquel Torres in a three round battle. It seems the Nevada judges still cannot judge a fight as one judge had Torres winning this fight, Crazy!

Tyrone Spong has got real knock out power, Gregor Gracie has the name but not the ability to make it to the top. Anthony Johnson still has the power, could he make it back to the UFC or is he happy to stay at the WSoF?

Andre Arlovski? I'm still not sure, is he just too good for people outside of the UFC but just no longer good enough inside the top cage, who knows? He could become a big draw inside the WSoF cage.

My feeling on the event as a whole is the fights were very good over all and Bellator which probably felt very comfortable as the worlds number two MMA organisation this year, must be wondering what just happend.

Expect more from WSoF, Sure they are a long way from challenging the UFC but every other MMA organisation better be on top of it's game because the WSoF have proved to be very well run and they turned in a great event.

The winners on the night? The real MMA fans, those people who where ever they were in the world managed to find a feed to watch a top quality MMA event.
