The World of MMA this Week (Brazil)

This Week's MMA ~ Brazil

Sure this week we in Asia get the pleasure of a real grown up MMA organisation as the UFC are putting on a show in Macau. This could well be the first salvo as the Worlds Biggest and best MMA organisation comes to play in the Asian Pacific.

UFC on Fuel 6 in Macua we will talk about that later in the week (providing the Coffee Boy pulls through).

There is also another show from what for now is the second biggest MMA organisation in the world Bellator Fighting Championship, Bjorn Rebney's show are holding 80th event in Florida. We of course will also talk about that later this week.

But let's look at some of the other shows shall we?

In the real heartland of MMA, Brazil this week-end sees three shows listed on Sherdog.com.

We have Watch Out Combat Show number 22 in Rio.
This show looks to have a couple of fights with experienced fighters and the rest are relative newcomers, often with zero listed fights. It looks to be a good proving ground as the fights seems to be fairly decent match-ups.

Then there is Hard Fight Championship in Cuiba.
This is a strange looking card, for instance the main event pits Delson Heleno at 23-7-0 against Carlos Villamor at just 1-1-0. It's seems a match up worthy of some tiny backroom organisation, who the hell pits an ex UFC fighter against somebody whose last (second) fight was in 2009 and was a loss.

The next bout is a lot closer matched at least in experience Julio Cesar de Almeida (18-7-0) vs Eduardo Pachu (13-6-0) and then it's back to madness as a 18-7-0 Arthur Cesar tackles a 0-3-0 Daniel Zarate. I mean really whats the point?
The rest of the fights are either closer matched or indeed debutants.

Next up Kings of Combat in Rio Grande De Sul. Sherdog lists just three fights and they are not that inspiring. A fighter with an 8-1-0 record vs a debutant. A 6-1-0 vs a 0-1-0 and a 10-3-0 vs a 3-3-0.

It seems to me some of the match-ups in these events are very shaky.

Brazil produces some (many) great fighters, I guess the ladder is very tough for those at the bottom to even get started on!
