MMA Invasion Malaysia

MMA Invasion Malaysia

(article by the Coffee Boy)

Rumors have been buzzing all over the internet the last few days over whats happening in the Malaysian MMA scene. Right now we have Malaysian Fighting Championship, Ultimate Beatdown, Gods FC, Legionnaire FC, and F-3 Championship.

According to a post I found on a Facebook profile page (his name shall remain anonymous for now), here’s what we have in store for Malaysia. Keep in mind we do NOT have the details yet as to who exactly is behind it (I’m guessing a mobile service company is involved?) but we will keep you guys up to date:

MMA Invasion Malaysia -  Champion of Champions

Plans (are) in progress to bring out the best Malaysian MMA fighter.
There (will) be auditions (@ designated gyms) to pre qualify all registrants so as to ensure the quality of fighters for this tournament. The auditions will be conducted by industry leaders and celebrity fighters.

Fighters who qualify can expect to go (through) an elimination step
ladder, 16-8-4-2-1 process. Surviving fighters go up the ladder. Losers of course drop off.
6 weight categories
179 fights.
Fortnightly fights for 2 months duration (2 weeks rest in between) held in hip clubs zones.
Final fights will have a 1 month recuperation period
Semi finalists square off at a pre determined venue (stadium size).

Champions can expect Cash prizes, products, All (expense) paid training stints at top notch overseas facilities 2 weeks, gym memberships, other sponsored products etc..& also overnight fame sensation. The possibility of being signed up by the biggest fight event organizer is also in the pipeline.

Of course this whole event will be shot and televised by local stations and affiliated private cable tv stations. All from the start of the auditions to the final fights.

So, get your fight shorts ready and start dreaming the Champions dream.”

Make of this what you will, but it looks like things are looking up for Malaysian MMA – fans and fighters alike.

  1. I think Malaysia is more enthusiastic than Singapore in MMA.

Why the hell ONE FC is based there anyway? There are no decent fighters there

  2. Thank you for getting involved with the site, same you are writing such uniformed rubbish - Singapore crowds turn out for ONE FC events. In KL they hardly turned up. Singapore has much higher quality fighters than Malaysia. take out the imports and it's very thin on the ground in both countries.

Korea and the Philippines have much better fighters. And the Philippines have the most enthusiastic crowds by a long way.

  3. I was there for ONE FC KL, the crowd was pretty good for the event. The stadium was 80% packed. It was after all, the 1st in M'sia. Nothing is perfect.

  4. Well, the Singapore crowds you mentioned are the expats. The local ones are either busy studying or with their jobs.

Take out the expats and let us see if they can get 100 viewers in Singapore

  5. Take away the expats from Malaysia and you got the same, take away the 2000 tickets allegedly given away free by a very kind local business man and it's even more like a ghost town. Simple fact is the expats are big supporters of the sport and are helping to shine a light on MMA in this area. Look how many of the fighters in the local events are foreigners. This event being set up is for Malaysians and PR's only and that will help get more local people involved. That is why it will be good for the sport.

  6. So I guess the causeway rivalry should be settled in the cage to really know veremos quien es el mas macho just like what Lupe Contreras always says
