GODS FC MMA – Kuala Lumpur Vs Singapore

Gods FC the MMA Team Championship Has Arrived

Gods Fighting Championship has gone through a lot of adjustments and changes in idea to reach this stage. The run in to the first event of the Asia Pacific’s newest MMA organisation.
And this one is a bit different, there is no massive hype, no claims to world domination, just a quiet determination by two current Asian Pacific based fighters and their partners to start their own show.

Those fighters are Mark ‘Mugen” Striegl and Will “The Kill” Chope. Both these fighters are well known in the Asian Pacific scene having between them fought in Macau, New Zealand, The Philippines, Thailand  and Malaysia so far this year.

The idea behind Gods FC MMA is a competition between two teams. Initially the first show was to be held in Taiwan with a second set to appear in the Philippines. That over the last few months has changed to Taiwan Vs Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and now we arrive at the final incarnation  for the first event. GODS FC MMA – Kuala Lumpur Vs Singapore.

All these changes have been necessary due to various licensing, time and financial issues. These guys are sensible and will do what it takes to ensure their idea takes off and they will grow it and improve it as they can. Sure it’s not as glamourous but it’s still a new organisations first steps and therefore we should all support them.

So here’s the important stuff – GODS FC – Kuala Lumpur Vs Singapore will be held on April 14th at Overtime Bar – Third Mile, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. Start time 8:00pm – Contact the bar to book a table or turn up on the night and take your chances.

The undercard while it is not a part of the actual Kuala Lumpur Vs Singapore competition is below.
Undercard:

Umutbek Malikov vs Allamurad Karayev – 57kg
Karayev (8-0-0) better known as Pretty Boy is the Current F3 Champion and is according to fightmatrix.com is the 40th ranked flyweight in the world. he was supposed to fight at last months DARE event but sadly he damaged his hand before it. But, he is back and raring to go. Believe me this kid is the real deal and while I think that rating is high, he certainly is one of the best in the Asia Pacific area of that I have no doubt. His opponent Malikov (no record), I am afraid is an unknown quantity to me at this time, I do understand that he has a lot of good quality wrestling experience. Bottom line is this, if he beats Karayev a lot of people will stand up and take notice.

David Khoo vs Antonio Graceffo – 84kg
Graceffo (5-1-0) better known as the Brooklyn Monk is a veteren Martial Arts warrior with a variety of high level belts in many different styles as well as high level boxing skills. He is also a master of the smack talk. Again I am afraid his opponent David Khoo (no record) is unknown to me. Apparently both these fighters asked for fight.

Syed Izmer vs Julius King – 66kg
King had the misfortune to face Will Chope at Malaysian Fighting Championship 4 and quite simply he found out that he cannot expect to jump up to many classes to quickly. However since that win Chope has been helping train him. So look for some improvement.

Muhd Hazrul vs Luc Rousseau – 84kg
Hazrul (2-1-0)  Is a veteren of the Malaysian Fighting Championship and his only loss was to Antonio Graceffo.
Rousseau (3-0-0) is also a MFC verteren and is a solid 3-0 all via submission, so you have to imagine that Hazrul is going to be desperate to keep this fight standing up. Rousseau has not been into the second round yet, so if this one goes deeper it will be interesting to see his cardio level.

Leon Low vs Shodiyor Djurabekov – 57kg
Djurabekov (Jurabekov) is (1-1-0) both of his fights were against Singapores Bruce Loh, he lost the first and won the second after Loh had to retire due to a hamstring injury. So he is still a family little know quantity, but he is a young fighter who has a lot of fans. Apparently Low is a real good quality striker who will be happy to stand and trade with Djurabekov.

Teh Kah Wei (1-1-0) vs Yalkun Avvaydulayev – 80kg

Nik Harris vs Gary Maclay – 80kg
Harris (1-1-0) is another fighter who recently lost to Antonio Graceffo. He lasted three rounds but did have a real visible lack of cardio in that fight, it will be interesting to see if it has improved.

Main Card – Team KL Vs Team Singapore

Andy Teh Team KL vs Syafiq Abdul Samad Team SG – 70kg

Donald Tong Team KL vs Khairul Huzzainy Team SG – 70kg

Melvin Yeoh Team KL vs Mamat Sparko Team SG – Open Weight

Yeoh (5-1-0) is a tough one to talk about, he is a BJJ expert and will almost certainly look to take the much bigger man to the ground. But, look at his record and he has won three of his fights with strikes or kicks. Mamat of course with such a big weight advantage should be able to bully Yeo, but let’s see, this one is size versus experience.

Hanif Zainal Team KL vs Zaden Gom Team SG – 70kg

Zaial (1-0-1)  has recently burst onto the scene and is definitely one fighter to watch. His two fights were both against tough opponents and he has come out very well. I don’t know anything about Gom, except he better bring his’A’ game.

Sam Chan Team KL Vs Khairul Huzzainy Team SG – 67kg

Chan (3-1-0) is a superb scrapper, he has a big heart and a lot of skill and if he is not chosen for ONE FC in KL you would have to wonder why, especially if he win’s this fight convincingly. He has great skill and does not shy away from a tough fight. His one loss was to Melvin Yeoh and there is no shame in that especially as he took the BJJ specialist to a decision.

OK so that’s the card and I am not going to pretend it full of top quality fighters or match-ups because plainly it isn’t.

But,  this is a new organisation looking to find it’s feet and because of that they deserve our support to help the promote  this event and to allow them to grow There is no big Indian Billionaire behind Gods, nor a pot of corporate gold. this is some fighters giving a platform for others to prove themselves. I like the idea behind the team event and of course we have a lot of new fighters making their debuts, so we may see some future stars emerge, It should be a fun journey.

Good Luck to Will and Mark.
