Roger Chan (1-0) Singapore has been training since his teens, and like his opponent at UB9 Hanif Zainal  he started with Tae Kwon Do during his school days. About 5 or 6 years ago he started learning Kapap Israeli Martial Arts and Gracie Jiu Jit Su for self-defense. It was only a few months back that he really got into MMA.

He trains with the best  at the Gracie University! Its online, You cant miss it!

And because he has a smart marketing head on his shoulders  he also name checks Kapap Academy Singapore (First and only Certified Gracie Training Center in Singapore) and Ultimate MMA Academy in Johor Bahru (First and only Gracie Garage in Malaysia)

Roger describes his strength as his  ”Willingness to always keep learning . Always a student, sometimes a teacher.”

When asked what he knew about Hanif Zainal he replied “ a fast rising MMA fighter in Malaysia and that he has fought professionally in Legend FC, Macau. He is a tough cookie and seems like a really nice chap. It’s an honor to be matched against him.”  Roger is very aware of the task ahead of him.

He has only had the one fight so far (see below) and Hanif will be a big step up in class for him.

In the real world away from the cage he is a stock trader and also a partner in Kapap Academy Singapore where they work with the public, companies, schools and elderly centers to teach their members self defense.

Roger had this to say to Hainf:

“I look forward to an awesome bout Hanif . It’s gonna be a great night and maybe we can grab a drink together after the fight  ”

He wishes to thank His wife Kimberly and 1 year old baby girl Reya, they have been immensely supportive but understandably fearful at times about this.  He also wishes to thank my training partners and coaches for the patience in teaching me, Im but an old dog learning new tricks!
