Hanif “The Predator” Zainal (2-1-1) Malaysia – has been training MMA  for around six months and has already made quite a splash. He started off as a youngster training in Tae Kwon Doh. His first exposure to MMA was actually through a computer game (at this time MMA was not shown on Malaysian TV). He and some friends then started trying out moves from the game and also those found on youtube.

He started his MMA training with a personal trainer at Kelana Jaya before moving to Muayfit where he trained once a week and now he is training with the Titans Fight team.

I witnessed  Hanif’s debut back in May of this year at the Malaysian Fighting Championships fourth event. His opponent on that day was Keith “The Terminator” Alden also making his debut. They both fought the full three rounds and the fight was a very exciting unanimous draw. (you can watch it below).

Hanif happily admits that he prefers to stand and bang and will not be looking to take the fight to the ground, in fact he said he hates going to the ground. He of course is aware that his opponent Roger Chan is a good grappler so this should be an exciting stylistic match-up and Hanif certainly does not under estimate the task ahead of him.

His last fight was an ill fated bout at Legend FC in Macau, but that big step up did not deter him, he treated it as a learning experience.

He tell’s us that  MMA is a hobby because he is an engineering student and for now that’s my career.

He does have a message for his opponent (Roger Chan) and that  is that “I respect him and his skills, but he’ll have to go down cuz i’m hungry for win after my loss.”
