ONE FC – Battle of Heroes – Undercard Results and Views

Here are the results and our views on the fights from the ONE FC undercard

Fight 1 - Zuli Silawanto Vs Agnus Nanang
Sulawanto throws and misses a kick and Nanang swarms on him, but Silawanto fights back and hits Nanang very hard a couple of times and knocks him down, he went to walk away but realising Nanang was not done yet, he went to the ground and punched him twice more, all over in 47 seconds!
Not much of a fight but I have to say that Sulawanto looked better than I expected, solid punches and lightening fast attack.
Fight 2 -Ngabdi Mulyadi Vs Peter Davis
These two start by exchanging very weak kicks into thin air, Mulyadi shoots in and clinches, he has Davis pushed up against the cage and knees him to the stomache Davis winces.
They stay together and Davis takes his turn to put Mulyadi again the cage, Mulyadi takes Davis down, inside Davis guard Mulyadi has Davis pinned against the cage and tries to choke Davis, as befits a fighter with very little real skill he does not seem to know how to apply it. Davis get’s out and has Mulyadi in a guillotine. They both stand up, Davis still has the guillotine in, somehow Mulyadi picks him up and slams him to the ground, he is inside Davis guard and the bell goes.
Round 2
More weak air kicks from Davis, Mulyadi kicks Davis who swings wildly and misses with a punch. Mulyadi shoots in and has Davis against the cage, this is a real low level fight, bery little skill is being shown from either man, its just sloppy kicks and pushing against the cage. Davis catches Mulyadi coming in and  he goes down, Mulyadi survives and ends up in Davis’s guard.
Round 3
Mulyadi shoots and get Davis against the cage, Davis tries a guillotine but seems to have no idea what to do with it, is he tiring? It’s a dull fight with little of quality. The ref breaks them up and it continues, Mulyadi again takes Davis down he is in Davis guard again, sadly he has no idea what to do beyond stay on top, it’s a dull non event and then with the clock running down the second moment of quality from Davis as he gets a triangle and Mulyadi taps. A win is a win is a win but did these guys really do anything to deserve this shot at this show when so many fighters are better qualified, but sadly are at the wrong gyms?
Fight 4 - Irshaad Sayed  Vs Jessie ‘The Finisher’ Rafols
Well known MMA journo James Goyder wanted a bet with me that Sayed would win this fight after I dismissed him saying Rafols would be way better. I did not rise to the bet and I am glad I didn’t as Sayed was a class above and took Rafols out with a barrage of punches.
Fight 5 - Alex Silva  Vs Geje ‘Gravity’ Eustaquio
I did say in my preview that this fight was a step up from the other fights and it turned out that way.
I won’t go through each round. it went to the judges and Eustaquio won. He dominated the fight but it was no walk over, Silva pushed him all the way.  And as it turned out it was the only really good quality fight of the Undercard.
Fight 6 -Youne Victorio ‘Indra’  Senduk ) Vs Raymond Tiew
Hmmmm, So the round starts and the fighters circle around each other and soon end up on the ground, Tiew mounts easily and starts to pound Senduk, eventually Senduk gets out and grab Tiews leg and puts him in an attempted leg lock, I say attempted because Senduk obviously had no idea what to do and Tiew had plenty of time to figure out how to escape. For an event of this suppossed quality again we were seeing fighters who could not even do the basic moves. Senduk finally gives it up but is still on top of Tiew controlling him. He starts hitting Tiew and also a few elbows. They are up again Seduk kicks to Tiews side and Tiew collapses to the ground. It was a soft finish.
Earlier I had watched the Legend Undercard and I thought it was OK, it certainly wasn’t great or so I thought. But after watching this I am prepared to revise my thoughts.
The Legend event started bang on time and all ran smoothly the free show on Youtube also was nice and smooth and did not jump. All of the fights finished in the first round but I saw some good quality fights.
The ONE FC card started an hour later than advertised (much like their first show) The Ustream feed was very poor (Not ONE FC’s fault I must stress). The quality of the ONE FC Undercard was frankly poor except for one fight. Some of the other fighters would be hard pushed to get on a card at Legend, URCC, CFC or any number of ONE FC partners, the fact they appear here is a shock. I hope ONE FC do not get stuck in the feeling that they have to give local fighters a place on the card and match them with fighters of a suitable level, regardless of ability because that’s what I am seeing here.
Thankfully the main card was much better quality.
