MMANewsAsia Ep63 Guest EJ Calvo from Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC)

Welcome to Ep63 and our Guest EJ Calvo

EJ Calvo from Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC)

Well what a kerfuffle! All seemed to be going well with this show until I came back to add the finishing touches.

Somewhere in the recording of this show on my end of things a horrible echo was set up and I carried on not realising it was actually recording into the system.

So I had two options scrap it or do some serious production work - ten hours later we have a show!
So heres what I had to do, in fact forget that listen to the show I explain it all!

Our guest today is EJ Clavo from the Pacific X-Treme Combat Organisation (PXC). This is one of the top organisations in Asian MMA and next weekend they will have PXC 33 in Manila, The Philippines with an expected live TV audience of around 500,000 screaming MMA fans probably making it the most watched live MMA event in Asia.

Anyway, you don’t need to hear all this stuff it’s podcast time,  so give it a listen and if you like it tell your friends and share away.

Our Intro Music is by Stratovarius and you can get at at iTunes HERE or via the Amazon link on the right of this page
Our outro music today is Clocks from Coldplay (Always reminds me of Loveline if you know that show!)  and you can get it HERE

It's quite surprising to me that with the large numbers of listeners of the show, that nobody bothers to comment on what  we do. So a plea. We would like to to hear what you guys do and do not like about our shows

PXC 33 Because The Philippines Loves A Good Fight Night

The PXC Organisation has sent us a couple of press releases. One about Mark Striegl and the other an Updated Fight Card:

PXC SIGNS UNDEFEATED FILIPINO MARK STRIEGL FOR SEPTEMBER 1st EVENT

Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC), the top MMA organization in the Philippines, continues to grow its roster of the best Filipino fighters announcing an exclusive multiple-fight deal with local MMA star, Mark Striegl.

PXC Promoter & CEO, E.J. Calvo, stated, “Mark will be highlighted as one of our top Filipino talents putting his undefeated record on the line on nationwide television.” Calvo added, “We are happy to give Mark an opportunity to compete at the highest level of MMA in the Philippines and showcase his abilities.

We will definitely test him with some of the best opponents in Asia!” Striegl is Filipino-American, and resides and trains in Baguio City, Philippines. Mark is undefeated as a professional, and has recorded wins in various shows across Asia, making a name for himself in Japan, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as in the Philippines.

Striegl will make his PXC debut against Featherweight Robert Wusstig, a tough up and coming fighter from Guam. Wusstig is on a 2-fight win streak, including a championship victory in Trench Warz-15 against Shane Alvarez, the undefeated Featherweight from Saipan. Upon returning to PXC competition, Wustigg is looking to climb the PXC rankings and live up to his reputation as spoiler.

In his young career, Robert “The Real Deal” Wustigg has fought some of Guam’s toughest MMA fighters, recording key wins against former Bantamweight Champ, Justin Cruz, and scrapper, Thaddeus Malbreaux. See Mark Striegl take on Robert Wustigg on September 1stat PXC-33.

Their latest event PXC 29 is due to take place on February 18th 2012 at Ynares Sports Center, Pasig City, Manila.
It features a top quality list of international fighters mixed with some local warriors and promises to be a lot of fun.
EJ Tells us about the early days of PXC and then brings us up to date by previewing this event and discusses the future.
Sorry about the scuffing noise in the first part of this show, EJ was talking to us on an iPad, once I sussed out where the noise was coming from I had him put it on the table and all better.
Our grateful thanks to EJ for his time and we hope to speak to him again soon.
