A Great Event, Nicely Covered By What's Going On In Johor? But One Comment Proves You Can't Please Everybody

Ultimate Beatdown 12 that took place last Saturday night @ Cheers Bar, Danga Bay was nothing short of heart-stopping, electrifying action!

These fighters truly put on a great show for the crowd of at least 500 strong, and for that we salute them! Fighters were not only local, but came from as far as India and Philippines, and of course our neighbours from across the border! You surely won't want to miss out on the next Ultimate Beatdown event!

  • Alex Kee Wow! As if we don't have enough violence in our midst in JB already? Yes, understandably, it is only a show and even if we are all willing suckers, don't you think we have other better non violence sports to promote? Yes, No? Or are we just way too shallow to appreciate anything deeper? Haiz.
    • Alan Cole Alex Kee, people in Johor are always telling me how dangerous it is here. All I see are people racing motorbikes up and down the waterfront past Danga Bay putting themselves and others in danger of serious injury or worse. There is an increase in robbery and violent crime and yet you decide to talk out about this. The people that take part in this event are dedicated sports men and women who train very hard over many months at their own expense for a sport in which there is little financial reward. These people don't roam the streets with knives or sticks, they train hard in the cage, they look after their health, they eat right. Your ill informed opinion is very sad. My youngest Son had his first fight at 15 and trains at least three times a week for 3 hours a night and usually a couple more times at home, he does not smoke or drink alcohol. What were you doing at his age (now 17)? My older son this year has climbed Mount Kinabalu, Run many long distance runs in Singapore and spent the last nine months being trained by his younger brother for his first fight - He's the guy in the bottom R/H picture by the way. He's from England and he proudly fought for Johor at this event. He's 23 and does not drink or smoke, trains very hard and is a great kid. I ask you again what were you doing at his age. I am very proud of all the people involved in this event and what they have done with their lives - From the boys that were trouble makers at school until they discovered MMA to the guys that have lost lots of weight and become healthy. So please keep your mis-informed comments to your self. Over 500 people paid to come along and have a good time, there was no trouble and everybody had seemed to enjoy themselves. Why should you care? I don't tell you what you should enjoy. Now I'm sure that you are a really nice guy, but your comments did annoy me because I know how hard my boys and the other fighters train and how they treat each other with respect before and after they fight. I also know that the boys who came from Evolution MMA gym in India endured a horrendous long mostly over land journey to be there and were great people, there were people there from Thailand, The Philippines, Borneo and Singapore plus a few Asian based people like my Son (England) and others. I'm really not seeing the problem you are seeing. The hotels and restaurants benefitted from all these visitors.
