Ultimate Beatdown X: Robinson outpoints Harris, Cole submits “Mok”
(by the Coffee Boy)
Malaysian
MMA is still on the rise, and Ultimate Beatdown X gave fans a fun night of Muay
Thai and professional MMA fights. The place wasn’t as packed as it could have
been, but towards the end of the night it started getting crowded.
In the
main event, Nik Harris fought Brad Robinson in what turned out to be a very
technical sort of bout. Robinson managed to keep the fight on the ground,
taking Harris down as often as he could. Harris seemed in trouble one or two
times, but managed to defend against submission attempts pretty well.
In the
third round, we saw Nik let his hands go a little bit more, and managed to land
some good punches and a couple kicks. Robinson wouldn’t have any of that,
clearly getting out-struck, and took it to the ground where he felt most
comfortable. He controlled all of the last round, and despite it being a little
less exciting, it’s understandable since they had a tough first two rounds
against each other.
Brad
Robinson is definitely someone to watch out for, and with a team like Fight G behind
him and getting to train with legends
like Ole Laursen and Phil Baroni, the sky’s the limit for the “Vanilla
Gorilla”. Nik Harris took the loss well, and was a class act post-fight. He was
seen talking to Robinson, and they seemed to be cool around each other. Rumor is
that Nik Harris has another fight coming up again soon.
In the
co-main event, Sabastion Cole took on “Mok”, a Judo fighter. Cole came out and
threw some kicks and landed some solid, fast-paced punches, and managed to get
his opponent’s back, and slapped on a standing rear naked choke.
Cole was
one of the more impressive fighters of the night, demonstrating a versatile
skill-set in the 38 seconds the fight lasted. He improved his record to 2-1,
and we’re looking forward to watching this young man fight again soon.
Ultimate
Beatdown X demonstrated that Malaysians are starting to get a better feel of
MMA, both the fans and the fighters alike. The fighters have shown significant
improvement, and the fans were eating up every bit of every single fight.
Ultimate Beatdown is already looking forward to their next event, and we’ll
post up details soon once more is confirmed.
