GODS FC Held Their First MMA Event on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur

Well it’s Sunday afternoon and 2/3rds of the MMA News Asia team have returned to sunny glorious Johor Bahru just in time to miss the Formula One (why cant a coach travel from KL to JB without needing to stop twice so people can fill their fat faces, just get me home!)

Anyway, GODS FC, what a fun night that was 11 fights, all of which finished in the first round and with one exception all packed full of pure unadulterated violence and much skill, especially considering many of these fighters were making their debuts.

Later this week we should be putting out one, maybe two podcasts featuring audio from the event but for now here’s a quick overview.

About 30 minutes before the event started the place was looking sadly empty and I feared the worst. I need not have worried the MMA fans from Malaysia and Singapore were just fashionably late, as indeed was the start of the event.

Yes, taking a leaf out the how to run an MMA event as written by the likes of ONE FC and DARE.   Rule 1 is start late!

Well, when it started the place has buzzing with a healthy crowd, we could relax now.

There were eleven bouts and none of them made it out of round 1, but you know what it did not matter the fights were exciting, the fighters brought it and the crowd appreciated it.

Here are the results:

1) Syed Izmer beat Julius King via KO

2) Shodoyor Djurabekov beat Leaon low via TKO

3) Luc Rousseau beat Muhd Hazrul via Guillotine

4) Antonio Graceffo beat David Khoo via Submission – Rear Naked Choke

5) Nik Harris beat Gary Maclay via TKO – Knees (Fight of the Night)

6) Sandro Silva beat Dan Augoste via Guillotine

7) Allamurad Karayev beat Umutbek Malikov via Tap to Strike

8.) Donald Tong beat Andy Teh via Submission – Armbar

9) Sam Chan beat Siyed Hilman via Submission – Rear Naked Choke

10) Hanif Zainal beat Zaden Gom via Tap Out – Strikes

11) Melvin Yeo beat Mamat Sparko via TKO – Mounted Triangle

All in all a good first event and judging by the crowd and the fighters most people enjoyed themselves.
