Getting To Know The Fighters At UB9 ~ Garrick

We interviewed Garrick ahead of his bout on Saturday at Ultimate Beatdown 9  @ De’Bali Bistro, Johor Bahru.

He started training three years ago beginning with Muay Thai and then 1 1/2 years ago he included BJJ and MMA into the mix, he trains at Sinagpores Impact MMA.

He told me “My strength is my perseverance”. He went on to say that people often underestimate him because  he doesn’t  have the typical muscular body you would expect of a fighter and he claims he still looks like a kid. So, he feels he might be able to surprise his opponent.

When asked what he knew of his opponent he told me  ”Not much. I hear that he trains with a respected fighter so I definitely have got to respect his game”.

He lists his biggest fight to date as his  Muay Thai fight (Novice) last year. It was his second fight ever and he  had lost the first one, so you can imagine the pressure he felt and the relief when he got that fist win.

In the real world away from the cage he is a civil servant working a desk job.

He had this to say pre fight to this opponent ”Let’s have a good fight, and hopefully we both come out of it healthy without any major injuries”.

He  hopes that he provides an entertaining fight and So do we.
