Was It All A Dream – ONE FC or ProElite – Who Does Dream Love The Most?
So is DREAM partnering with ONE FC, with Pro Elite or both, Is Dream becoming the easy slutty girl on the block that everybody wants to get into bed with, and if so why?
I am sure that not so long ago while they were hoovering (should that be Dysoning now?) up 95% of the fighters in Asia and partnering with Organisations and Gyms throughout the area, that the ONE FC organisation told us it had finally agreed a partnership with Dream after a lot of talks, the rumours had been around a while and finally it was confirmed. The two biggest names in Asian MMA were getting in bed together (in a business sense of course).
And now it seems that the marriage must have had a clause stating that they could continue to see other people. Pro Elite (Out of Hawaii) also claim to have a partnership with Dream, In fact they don’t claim. they DO have a partnership. T.J. Thompson, Head of Operations at Pro Elite has announced they will be doing some joint branded events with Dream, with show’s hopefully in Hawaii and also Japan.
This weekend they show the first fruits of their joint labour as Kendall ‘The Spyder’ Grove faces Ikuhisa Minowaman in Hawaii.
Is this a slap in the face to ONE FC or nothing of note?
So, where does this leave the ONE FC network, Indeed, what is the ONE FC network?
Well one of the things that has been brought to fruition is the fighter share which is making it easier for fighters from the various organisations to compete against each other in bigger shows, for example and taking Muay Fit in Malaysia as an example, two of their fighters are due to fight in ONE FC 2, which is a big step up in event coverage and crowd size and of course will lead to lots of positive publicity by association for MuayFit. So, we do seem to have a clear path for fighters and a clearer road for entry into ‘bigger shows’.
The other possible option will be that ONE FC can provide unification bouts to try to create ONE champion in each weight class from all of the smaller organisations.
Maybe at certain levels with certain bigger longer established organisations it might mean joint branded events, again it was touted that the ONE FC promotion in Singapore in March would be a Dream/ONE FC joint event, but today the ONE FC website does not mention Dream as being involved with this event.
Of course, will the news from Pro Elite affect this, or is this also opening a door for ONE FC to spread their net even wider. They are already including Australia with CFC, so why not Hawaii which of course gives a unique landscape being an American state with a large Japanese population.
And with the URCC looking towards the American market, might ONE FC also be looking to tackle the UFC on their home ground. Maybe, in retaliation for UFC’s stated aim of having shows in Macau and possibly Singapore, of course they already have Japan and Australia under their considerable spell, So why not and again what would that mean for ONE FC?
So is the news from ProElite a big deal or not? Personally, I think Dream hold’s nothing like the power it used to anyway and ProElite has only recently relaunched after its own past issues. ONE FC is the clean start, ONE FC is the future.
Of course all of this is guess-work and suggestion but hopefully over the next few months things will become more cement.
There are many people at gyms and organisations all around Asia plus of course untold numbers of MMA fans Worldwide that hope the ONE FC network holds together and that the plans of head honcho Victor Cui come to fruition.
I’m one of them.
