Victor Cui Get’s It – Sadly So Many Of You Don’t

Victor Cui Get’s It – Sadly So Many Of You Don’t

Yes, I’m an Asshole – I write what I believe I see, what I believe to be true – That does not mean I am right, but it also does not mean you are!

Due to the fuss that I seem to generate by trying to write what I see, (and when I say ‘write what I see’  I literally take notes as a fight is happening and write what I am seeing, so when people then come back to me and say I was wrong I can refer to my notes not my (dodgy) memory and make my point).
I have decided I need to try to explain the point of this website.
What is the point of a website where we try to write articles based upon our opinion?
We, like the fact that not everybody writes the same thing about an event or a person, because let’s be honest if we all had the same opinion, well, you would not need more than one website would you.
We, can never agree on everything we see or do, that’s human nature.
BUT, to try to tell people what is wrong or what is right when it’s something we can all see is wrong – We are all entitled to our opinions providing we all saw the same thing. And, If I write something you disagree with there are many options – There is a forum on the site, and you can write what you want (providing it is on an MMA related subject and in English), I won’t censor you even if you attack me, but, don’t complain if I write back.
You can add comments to the posts, again providing it’s in English and it’s on subject I won’t censor it.
And if you are a fighter or an event organiser, gym owner etc – Well, I have a podcast and you are welcome to come on as a guest and make your point as well. I am not unmovable in my opinions I am willing to listen and re-adjust what I think but I am just as likely to agree to disagree.
Fair enough?
Sure it’s my site, but, look I just try to offer constructive criticism. If you don’t like it that’s fair enough, after all I am one – there are many other websites out there willing to write nice things about you based upon what they see, If mine hurts don’t read it, stick to those that who see things in a positive way regardless of what you do good or bad.

Victor Cui of ONE FC is a MAN, a Real Man

I have on many occasions written things about ONE FC that others have made a big fuss over. So what happened when I met Victor?
Well, he, came up to me and shook my hand like a man! I am sure he get’s pissed when I write less than enthusiastic articles but he also knows that I do it because I care deeply. I want ONE FC to be a massive success and I believe it has an opportunity to become massive because Victor Cui is not afraid of criticism, as long as he considers it constructive.
Some fighters this weekend have been pleased with what I wrote about them while others have been less than happy. Look people, I am not an expert and if you truly believe you fought a great fight and watching the video we have all seen cements that thought in your mind then why worry what I think?
I always think it’s great when certain UFC fighters, men at the pinnacle of the sport, who after WINNING a fight say they were unhappy with how they performed. And they WON! They will be successful for a long time because they are self aware, and they probably have good friends and team mates who care about them and tell them the truth, plus they are never happy to just win, they want to win well. Imagine what they are like when they lose. They won’t make excuses, they will watch the fight back and see what went wrong.
It’s funny recently an organisation held an event and afterwards there was much praise and some criticism, I was on the praise side of the situation and wrote articles stating why. I also offered the people behind the organisation the chance to come on the podcast and answer the allegations written by others. They refused figuring if they held their heads under a pillow it would all go away. That was their right, to ignore the criticism. It’s not how I would react but hey, we all do things differently.
Apparently because I have not been super excited about some recent goings on at this same organisation, now I am less popular. Well, LOOK,  I am not doing this to be popular. I do this to promote MMA in Asia (and beyond) and if you are happy to receive that promotion, well, maybe you gotta learn to expect occasional criticism .
Sure there are lots of willing websites out there who will write puff pieces for you, but don’t you think people will one day wake up and somebody will say – “The Emperor Is Wearing No Clothes”  **** what happens to all those puff pieces then? What happens to those websites  when they lose credibility – The same as will happen to mine if my articles are considered critical without foundation.
Somebody has been writing me with glee, suggesting that at the next event by an organisation I was to get a seat on the press junket – he talked of flights, hotels, access to everything – Things he already benefits from. But, because I had written less than flattering articles or tweets, he thought it was now unlikely. He almost could not  contain his joy at  my supposed faux paux, the fact is I like the guy, but believe me as many people talk about him behind his back as talk about me. Even, writing positive articles does not protect you from the haters!
Look here’s the deal. This website is my hobby, a hobby I spend many hours on daily and lots of my own money on. I go to events, and at the majority I pay for a ticket (even at the gym my Son trains in), at all of them I pay for my flight, coach, taxi, hotel meals etc. So, while it would be nice to receive some freebies now and again it’s not why I started this site and without those freebies I am just has happy to write about your organisation. But, here’s the deal, if I pay, or you pay for me to be there it does not matter I Will Still Write What I See Good Or Bad, So, If that is not what you are prepared to accept, well you better get somebody else.
The only thing I really want out of this site is a chance to help people be successful, and to may be get my self a job with an MMA organisation in Marketing or PR, Skills I have from my past life in the UK. I am open about that wish and you can hate on me for it, but admit it if you have an MMA website, you would like the same chance. The only difference is we go about things differently. I have run businesses, sales and marketing teams, the last thing I wanted were YES MEN!
You could easily attack me, let me help, I don’t know a hell of a lot about Martial Arts, I meet people daily with more knowledge than me.  My writing is poor, I leave in way too many mistakes, I have poor grammer and make many bad spelling mistakes and My voice on the podcast is horrible! There that should get you started.
Website’s like this survive on only one thing:  Readers. If you don’t like what I do don’t read!
Here’s Some Things That Might Help You Understand:
A true friend is like your other self. He will be your best and worst critic as he will always tell you the truth, though he knows it will sometimes hurt you. At least he is always honest. Unattributed found on the Internet

*****  Taken from Wikipedia      The Emperor’s New Clothes
A vain Emperor who cares for nothing but his appearance and attire hires two tailors who are really swindlers that promise him the finest, best suit of clothes from a fabric invisible to anyone who is unfit for his position or “just hopelessly stupid”. The Emperor cannot see the cloth himself, but pretends that he can for fear of appearing unfit for his position; his ministers do the same. When the swindlers report that the suit is finished, they mime dressing him and the Emperor then marches in procession before his subjects, who play along with the pretense. Suddenly, a child in the crowd, too young to understand the desirability of keeping up the pretense, blurts out that the Emperor is wearing nothing at all and the cry is taken up by others. The Emperor cringes, suspecting the assertion is true, but holds himself up proudly and continues the procession, deciding never to be so vain again and to take his position more seriously.
