Malaysian Fighting Championship – MFC 4- Fight 8 Blow by Blow
So far every fight has finished before the first round had ended, would this be any different?
Fight 8: Hanif “The Predator” Zainal (Speed Power Taekwondo) Vs Keith “The Terminator” Alden Round 1:
The fight starts, they touch gloves, Zainal throws a low leg kick which Alden blocks, he does not block the next one. Alden goes in low for a takedown he does not succeed, but he does have Hanif pressed against the cage and is placing some body shots and Hanif tries to escape but Alden holds him tight. He is trying to pull Hanifs legs away. Hanif replies with some solid shots to the body. Alden pushes him tighter against the cage in reply. The ref moves them apart.
Alden tries to go low again, Hanif tries to block him, he’s using his arms, well, he get’s underhooks, Hanif is doing a great job of defending. Alden knees Hanifs leg, Hanif replies with a knee to the body. Alden head down and still pushing Hanif against the cage punches to the thigh of Hanif. But, Hanif has the underhooks and is doing a very good job of neutralising any real damage.Alden still pushing for a takedown, again punches the thigh, trying to pull Hanif’s legs away. Again the ref steps in and separates the fighters.
Hanif restarts with a strong kick to the body and then a jumping head kick which just misses and he eats a low kick by Alden. Alden throws a leg kick. Hanif throws a single to double jumping leg kick (whatever one of those is) but in doing so he trips and Alden is all over him and in his guard, trying to work through and push his legs out, it looks like Hanif is going for a leg, yes, he’s trying for a heel hook, Alden pulls out and leaves Hanif on the ground. Alden stands over him, Hanif has his his leg, he tries an up kick and lets go of Aldens leg. Alden pounces and stacks Hanif against the cage pushing his legs back over his head, a good position, Hanif rolls out but Alden has him straight back in the same position, Alden then moves into side control.
Hanif is trying to get him into guard but Alden is turning to keep the advantage and they are in a north south position, Alden moves back into side control, Hanif is trying to use the cage to roll himself over. Alden holds him tight and pushes him down and tries to pull him away from the cage, while, Hanif is still using the cage to try to get him self over. Alden throws some punches, they are still grappling, Alden fighting to keep control. He is still in side control and starts to lay some knees into the body, Hanif tries to use his elbow to defend but a barrage of knees are coming in.
Alden tries to move into full mount, and he succeeds, he tries to take Hanifs back but immediately Hanif rolls out and lands an up kick and as Hanif stood up he landed a big punch to the jaw. Hanif is on his feet and Alden is wobbled. Alden regains his composure and it’s the end of the first round.
A very exciting first round, full of backwards and forwards action.
This one is going to Round 2
Round 2:
Starts with a body kick from Alden, doesn’t land cleanly but his counter leg kick does, as does his next kick, Hanif is backing up against the cage. They both kick out and their shins colide, they move back to the middle. Alden looks like he want’s to win it this round. Alden throws a sidekick, Hanif tries to use some kicks to keep Alden at bay, he throws a jab and misses then a leg kick which lands, Alden tried to block it, but was too slow. A head kick from Hanif and then a leg kick, they are very effective. Hanif tries a head kick and then a leg kick, the kicks are effectively keeping Alden at bay. Alden replys with a very solid leg kick, then he throws a high kick which just misses.
Hanif lunges forward punching to the body but misses, another good low kick by Alden, Alden throws a big hook which partially lands, Hanif again goes for the body shot, then he goes back to the kicks keeping Alden at bay. Hanif throws an upper cut that misses and immediately Alden replies with a powerful leg kick which lands. They share kicks mostly blocked, The ref tells them to engage more and Hanif does so with an uppercut and a left hand, both are blocked but Hanif is really going for Alden and is starting to land some hard shots, Alden clinches up and lands a few close shots of his own. Hanif lands a very powerful knee and they separate again.
Both fighters are showing good stamina, Alden looks like his leg might be hurting a bit after all those kicks.
Hanif lands a really hard punch, it’s party blocked but it threw Aldens hands back, Hanif continues to throw solid punches, Alden is blocking most of them but they are coming with mean intent. Alden goes for another takedown but Hanif uses the underhooks to defend very well. He is pushing his knee between them, Alden is punching into the body and trying to take a leg. Hanif is showing good clinch takedown defense.
Alden is pushing his body in close so he cannot be kneed with power, Alden still throws a knee and then Hanif tries to throw Alden but cannot, Alden throws a knee, Hanif repays him and they exchange some solid knees. Both fighters are giving everything They continue to struggle right to the bell.
A very exciting and even second round, what wil Round 3 bring?
Round 3:
Alden starts with a leg kick, it’s possibly lost some of it’s zing, not as fast or as accurate as his earlier kicks is he tiring? Hanif also looks tired, this is going to be a round to dig deep. Hanif comes forward throwing punches and get’s a muay thai clinch and continues to hit Alden who seems unable to protect himself. Suddenly he shoots forward for a takedown, pinning Hanif against the cage, Hanif though has him in an attempted guillotine, Alden struggles to free himself and eats some good knees on the way out, he plunges back in and Hanif has him again around the neck. Alden retaliates with some good body punches, he does seem to be slowing though the punches are coming less. Hanif still holds him and does not look too troubled by the body punches he is receiving. Hanif is blocking Aldens legs to stop his knees and at the same time he is landing knees of his own. Alden tries to create some room to enable him to throw a knee but before he can he eats one from Hanif. Alden seems to be struggling to complete his takedowns with Hanif’s solid defence, but is his domination of the cage going to see him through to a win?
Hanif throws and misses with a superman punch and he takes a knee for his trouble, Hanif catches Alden with a right hand and Alden again backs him into the cage and knees to Hanifs leg, Hanif again tries the choke but he won’t get it in without adjusting his position. Alden is reaching for a leg, he cannot get it, so he lands a nice knee instead. Too block these knees Hanif has his leg up almost tempting Alden to sweep him. Alden does not take the chance and Hanif regains his stance. Again they are exchanging knees. Hanif is defending himself well, but he is being controlled by Alden.
The Ref separates them. Alden tries a head kick but does not land it, Hanif tries for a low shot, he’s looking tired, again Alden pushes him back against the cage, you can see the frustration on Hanifs face at these tactics but he needs to use the underhooks to turn Alden to create opportunity. He is not dictating the pace of the fight and Alden has been pushing him against the cage again.
It’s over the round ends, it’s going to the judges.
It’s up to the Judges we await the announcement.
It’s a Unanimous Draw with two judges scoring a draw and the third a win for Hanif.
That was a very enjoyable fight and a fair decision, well done to both the fighters.
