OK It’s Time For The Big Fight –  Fight 7 BK Vs Takase

The question is would this be a suitable finish to a great event or a damp squid? Read on for the answer.
Fight 7:
Brandon ‘BK’ Kessler (USA) 13 Coins Gym Vs Daiju Takase (Japan) Laml

Round 1:
So here it is the main event of the evening.
Takase starts with and outside leg kick and follows it up with a quick kick to the ole wedding jewels which brings about a stoppage while BK bit’s his bits back in their rightful place.
It starts again, they circle for a long time, Takase throws some light attempted kicks but it’s mainly quiet and then Takase catches BK with a very powerful body kick that BK felt, then it settles down again with Takase stalking BK, they are not really engaging Takase is throwing some leg kicks and jabs but nothing harmful, Takase as if to encourage BK in drops his gloves and BK does not waste that opportunity and plants a superman punch right on Takase and it was a good one Takase stumbles for a second and then they settle down again.
Boom a kick to BK’s body and that was a big one, they settle down again, the early parts of this round seem to be very much about feeling each other out, BK’s body has a big red mark where that kick landed. Takase throws a body kick but BK catches it and sweeps Takase to the ground and is in Takase’s guard. BK is trying for an armbard and Takase is throwing up some punches, he is resting on Takase’s throat, BK then postures up and catchs Takase with a solid punch, the ground work continues with BK posturing up and punching at Takase. Takase in reply was throwing punches and elbows from theground, many punches and elbows. Some of the elbows looked illegal catching the back of BK’s head or neck.
Round 2:
They touch gloves, Bk backs to the cage and Takase starts this round with a big hook, BK tries to take him to the floor, fails, but has Takase up against the cage, Takase has under hooks and as BK throws a knee Takase turns out of it and then stomps at BKs foot. BK with his back now to the cage is trying to get hooks in. Takase knees to BK’s thigh and tries to take BK down, he fails. BK is out and they move to the middle of the cage. Takase throws a hook but misses, throws some light kicks and jabs and then a solid hook catches BK and he is backed up against the cage. Takase tries to pull BK away and stamps at BK’s feet, then Takase pulls guard and BK fires some shots into Takases ribs, BK on top throws strikes, Takase replies from the bottom, he is working his body, trying to get his hips out, maybe going for a triangle. Whatever it calms down, BK is in Takases guard and neither man seems in a hurry, Takase is working for position and get’s his hips out and has a knee in, Takase goes for a Kimura, he rolls BK over and the kimura is cranked in tight. He has his hooks in and still works that kimura, he then moves into mount. Takase has moved into attempted an arm triangle. Takase does not seem to have enough power over BK to allow him to take control of BK’s arms. Again we are moving into the final round.

Round 3:
So going into round three and its a very even fight, the outcome of this fight may all hinge on what happens over the next few minutes.
They spend the first 30 or so seconds feeling each other out hitting each other with small jabs and kicks. BK backs up against the cage and Takase stalks him. Takase breaks the deadlock with a powerful inside leg kick and BK charges him and drives Tajase to the ground.
BK is on top and Takase uses the rubber guard for awhile, he gives up on that moes back to holding BK in guard. Takase tries fighting back with some elbows. But Bk is safely on top. Takase tries a kimura and sweeps BK again. Takase just does not seem to have the strength to pull these kimura attempts off.
The fight continues in this vein until the fight ends. Both fighters had put in a lot of effort trying to finish it, but now it was in the hands of the judges.
This was a very interesting and technical fight and the crowd were well entertained, now we waited for the result.
It’s a Win to Takase. All three judges scoring it 29-28. Both these fighters put on a show and I hope to see them both in action again.
And that was DARE 1-12 our first visit to one of their events and a hell of a good time.
Look out for the podcasts related to this event. First up is the Review by DARE bigwig Jussi Saloranta a very interesting show.
