Matthew Polly From A Laughing Matter to Fighter and Writer

The American Shaolin Doesn’t Get Tapped Out

I just have to post the link to this story http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/11/22/tapped-out-author-talks-transformation-from-pudgy-writer-to-fo/ - mainly because I am unfit (OK I am fat!)  and I remember seeing this dude fight in Las Vegas at an event called Tuff ‘n’ Nuff – which was an Amateur event held at the Palms hotel and casino. It was a brilliant night and my first ever live MMA event.  http://worldtravelgapyear.com/travel/mma-and-cinema-vegas-keeps-us-entertained
At the event we also saw Randy (the Natural) Couture because his son (Ryan) was also fighting.
I would estimate there were a couple of thousand people in the room (which was probably capacity) and I am sure that everybody had a great night.
The funny thing was we had no idea who Matthew Polly was and my Son’s and I found it hilarious that this guy who we thought looked like a young unfit Dan Ackroyd (yes the actor) was fighting in front of us. We thought it was so funny we went back after the event and told my wife we had seen both Randy Couture and Dan Ackroyd, you can bet she looked confused.
Anyway the reason I add this post was because with all the fuss being made by ONE FC, the simple fact is if you enjoy watching fighting and you cannot afford to see UFC live (We couldn’t) you CAN find an event nearby that will still give you lots of pleasure.
This weekend will be the perfect example as in Johor Bahru some amateur MMA warriors will entertain a small crowd of friends and family and maybe a few fight fans and fun will be had by all.  ONE FC may not even know these guys exist  but they are the possible future stars and their friends and family are future fans!

You can see Matthew Polly’s fight from that night in Las Vegas below.

and just so you don’t think the fights on that night lacked quality, wrong!
Here’s Ryan Couture against Jimmy Spicuzza (who had an amazing following on the night all wearing the same t-shirts).
